Storage for Cereal Lovers
If you use proper Cereal Storage you won't have to tell stories like this one. My son just came and said to me " we need some milk but I just wanted to let you know the cereal in the boxes are stale but the Fruit Loops in the cereal storage container is still fresh". He could have easily said "Dad you wasted some money by leaving your Raisin Bran in the cardboard box dummy". And yes I did have the you blew it this time look on my face.
The key to keeping your Raisin Bran (o.k. not everyone eats Raisin Bran) fresher for longer periods of time would be air tight sealed containers to keep out moisture and insects. It is truly a no brainer, look who's talking.
Humor Your Taste Buds
More than likely, you ended up eating some Rice Crispies that were less than fresh, and more than likely your taste buds did not appreciate it. When you buy Captain Crunch, you want it to be crunchy, and of course you do not want your Cheerios to end up feeling like Gummy Savers (the only thing worst is sour milk).
Keep Away the Bugs
Often, if you have cereal around for too long without having it in a sealed container or cereal dispenser, you may end up having a few extra things in your bowl. Especially if you live in the warmer southern states, you really have to be careful about the storage and storing other types of dry goods, such as flour and sugar.
There are all kinds of bugs that would enjoy nothing better than some fun in the Special K box(okay that must be the insects on a diet), so you want to be sure that you use proper cereal storage to keep this from occurring.
Saving Money
Usually you will find that these products only has a shelf life of about 2-3 months max, and usually shorter than that once it has been opened. How many times have you had to throw out a $4 box of Captain Crunch because it went stale, or had to clean out the cupboards because bugs decided to throw a party in your cereal boxes?
Everyone wants to find ways that they can save money, and just by investing in some proper storage containers for your cereal, you can save money and cut down on the waste.
Cereal Storage time guidelines;
Cereals, ready-to-eat Room Temperature 2-3 months
Cereals, ready-to-cook Room Temperature 6 months
Corn meal, Room Temperature 1 year
Flour, cake, all-purpose, Room Temperature 1 yr
The Cereal Storage Solution
As you can see, storage is very important for a variety of different problems. A great way that you can save money, avoid getting bugs in the Puffed Wheat, and make sure that it always tastes great is to invest a little bit of money in airtight storage containers. Sure, it will cost you a little bit to purchase them, but think of all the money you could be saving in the long run. Please remember that all plastic containers are not made for food storage.
Whether you eat cold ready to eat , or you enjoy other types of cereals like oatmeal, Malt-O-Meal, or even grits, it is important that you store each of them properly. When you eat breakfast you want to know that when you take the first bite, it is going to taste great. There is no need for you to ever eat stale cereal again. Get the right storage containers and no doubt you will be able to enjoy a great bowl any time of the day, and you can save money while you are doing so.
I have seen a box of Raisin Bran last 6 months in a properly sealed container. I know this because no one in my home will eat Raisin Bran but myself.
I'm like a big kid I can eat Raisin Bran 24/7. I see you thinking about running to the kitchen right now!

Celebrate Easter in Style with Roasted Lamb
From historical times, roasted lamb has been a traditional delicacy for ushering in the spring season. Roasted lamb is also the most savoured meat item in Easter dinner. There is a reason for association of lamb with the spring season. The natural breeding cycle of sheep results in ample production of lamb during the months of March and April. Hence we get to hear about the term spring lamb.
Before our mouth starts to water over a dish of roasted lamb, lets differentiate between a lamb and a sheep. Formally, a lamb is a sheep that is less than a year old. A baby lamb is six to eight weeks old while a spring lamb is even younger. It is only three to five months of age. Once a lamb crosses its first birthday, it is referred to as yearling. It matures to mutton once it reaches its second birthday. Present day animal husbandry practices, allow you to obtain lambs of varying ages throughout the year.
Now lets move on to intricacies behind roasted lamb. The most favoured part of lamb is the rack of lamb. Actually, rack is a cut from the rib section. Eight ribs constitute a full rack. If you happen to order a rack of lamb in a restaurant, you will be served with Frenched bones. This is an arrangement for beautification purposes only. The meat is scrapped off the ribs. Though the Frenched rack has visual appeal, it deprives you of the true taste of lamb. Devoted lamb admirers will suggest relishing of the meat first and thereafter nibbling on the bones.
Having said this far, let us get introduced to a highly popular lamb recipe for the next Easter- the roasted rack of lamb. To feed two, you will require 1 full rack of lamb; olive oil; 2 tablespoons of chopped rosemary; 2 tablespoons of chopped thyme; salt; pepper; a cup of red wine; 3 chopped garlic cloves and one tablespoon of butter.
First check whether the butcher has removed the chine bone from the rack. Next, trim excess fat from the rack without overdoing it. Apply olive oil lightly on the rack. Next sprinkle half the quantity of rosemary, thyme, salt and pepper on both sides of the rack. With a grate at the bottom, place the rack on your roasting pan and then put it into a pre-heated oven at 375 degree. Continue to cook when a thermometer placed at the dead centre of the meat shows readings of 125 degrees for rare; 130 for medium rare; and 135 for medium.
After cooking, allow the roast to rest for a while on a serving plate covered with an aluminium foil. Let the meat re-absorb the juices and the foil keep it warm. To prepare the sauce, pour wine on the roasting pan and bring it to boil. Add the other half of rosemary, thyme, garlic, salt and pepper. When the quantity of the sauce reduces to half, add butter. Prepare individual chops from the roasted mass and serve hot after spreading sauce over them. To make the dish even more delicious, you can substitute homemade beef or veal stock for the wine. A composition of stock and wine would be the best bet.
Americans consume a pound of roasted lamb or other lamb delicacies throughout the year. You will be interested to know that lamb is a delicacy that is even more popular in other parts of the world. Particularly, inhabitants of the Mediterranean countries savour it. The item is conspicuous in so many dinner tables during the Easter.

organic goji berriesReal Mexican Food - It May Be Different From What You Expect
Everyone in the US has spent many enjoyable meals in the local Mexican restaurants in their town or city, but if you live in Mexico or make an extended visit, you'll find some delightfully tasty dishes you never experienced back home.
As you would expect, the national cuisine is flavorful, colorful, and contains lots of spices. If you're adventurous and willing to take part in the local culture, you'll find many dishes that never make their way into Mexican restaurants up north, and you'll enjoy experimenting with new tastes and ingredients.
Many of the items you'll find in grocery stores and in restaurants are an ingenious combination of the original Aztec and Maya ingredients of corn, chilies, squash and beans, usually with a Spanish twist. Many of the foods we now consider staples in our own households in the US, Canada and Europe were originally found in the land that became Mexico and Central America.
You'll notice many differences in the way food is prepared - sometimes an item that you think you know will be different in Mexico. For instance, quesadillas, a flour or corn tortilla filled with cheese, may have cheddar or jack cheese when found in a US restaurant, but in Mexico it is likely to be filled with a soft farmer's cheese like Queso Fresco. You can find this cheese in some larger US groceries if you'd like to see what it's like. Add some shredded pork or chicken and a chili sauce, for a special treat.
If you find yourself in the Mexican interior, or if you are just more adventurous than most tourists, you might find dishes made the way the original people of the area cooked, before the Spanish conquest. If you look hard, you might be able to taste such unusual ingredients as rattlesnake, monkey, lizard and even some kinds of insects. These dishes are unlikely to be found in the more popular tourist hot-spots like Cancun or Puerto Vallarta, and are not for the faint of heart.
Just like in the United States, the food changes from one area to the next. The culture of Mexico is diverse and interesting, and the food reflects the differences in climate, culture and tastes.
One item you'll find served in many Mexican restaurants and homes is the traditional enchilada. This dish is made from a corn tortilla (often hand-made on the spot) that has been briefly softened in hot oil and then dipped in enchilada sauce. The tortillas are then filled with a variety of ingredients, such as chicken, vegetables, pork or beef, and even eggs or bananas. In some areas a filling made of potatoes and cheese is popular.
After being rolled up they are placed together in a dish, and more sauce is spooned on top, along with other ingredients like cheese, onions and olives. The sauce is almost always spicy, and will contain the traditional chili peppers and other seasonings. Mole sauce, made with chili peppers, ground nuts or seeds, and unsweetened chocolate is also common and worth trying.
Another very simple dish you may find in your travels is the "sope", a traditional dish originating in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco. It is considered a snack or "street food" in Mexico.
Sopes are made by placing refried beans and crumbled cheese, onions, red or green salsa and sour cream on top of fried masa. Masa is the specially prepared ground corn that is also used to make the thinner tortillas that most of us are familiar with.
Another item you'll find in some areas of Mexico, but which is rarely on a US menu, is chilorio, a pork dish popular in the Mexican State of Sinaloa. This dish can be prepared in a number of different ways, but most recipes include tender pork that is fried in a chili sauce. To make the pork tender it is slowly simmered for hours. It is then broken into small pieces and fried in lard, and then cooked again in chili sauce. The ingredients in the sauce usually include onions, cumin and garlic.
If you have a chance to live in Mexico or visit for an extended time, be sure to sample the varied and delicious traditional dishes. Visit the markets and experience the incredible variety of vegetables, spices and meats that make up the traditional Mexican cuisine. You'll discover that this nation has far more to offer in the way of variety and tastes than you'll ever find in a Mexican restaurant back home in the States.

What Is A Healthy Diet?
What is a healthy diet? Its not about counting calories, measuring portions or cutting carbs. You won't really find a healthy diet on the lite menu at your favorite restaurant and you certainly won't find it at the local fast food joint. A healthy diet is all about what you eat rather than how much you eat.
If you think the latest fad diet is your panacea to health, you are in for a big surprise. Losing weight, staying healthy and getting back into shape after many years of diet neglect is not about fads or eating in some radical new way for six to twelve weeks and then going back to the way you used to eat.
The best thing you can do to keep yourself healthy is to eat a healthy dietall the time, not just when you want to lose weight. Eating healthy is a long-term lifestyle choice, something you need to do for your entire lifetime.
But what is a healthy diet? Is it what we have been lead to believe milk for strong bones and teeth, protein in the form of lean beef or chicken and maybe a healthy microwave dinner if we are on the go. Unfortunately this diet is what is identified as the Standard American Diet or the SAD.
And what's so wrong with the SAD?
Well, has it made us a healthier people? Are we better off as a nation because of it?
With all of the health studies, advanced health care, the war on cancer dating back to the 70s, and the most advanced technology available on the planet we have to ask ourselves why do we still need to spend $1.3 trillion a year on health care in the United States. Why aren't we getting any healthier?
Other pertinent questions about your health beg for answers such as, why after more than 30 years since the War On Cancer was declared, do we still have an increasing cancer rate. Yes, we have many more people surviving, cancer but the rate at which people are getting cancer is increasing. We have come a long way in taking care of sick people, but we haven't made any progress as a nation in preventing those people from getting sick.
Why do more than 15 million people in the United States have diabetes? Why do we still have more heart problems today than we did 30 years ago? Why is more than 50% of our population on some kind of prescription drug?
We spend more per person on medical care than any other nation in the world. Why is this happening in a country that seems to be able to solve nearly any technological problem? Why can't we solve our medical problems? How would life be different for us if we were to be a nation of healthy individuals?
The secret to a healthy diet and a healthy life is living food fresh vegetables, fruit, juices and green leafy salads. The answer to a healthier you is summed up in three words, breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's not a secret, it's a lifestyle.
Living a healthy life and having a healthy family is all about eating a healthy diet, every day of our lives!

As you probably know, nutrition is of the utmost importance for achieving results in your fitness program and living a healthy life in general. Like exercise, nutrition must be goal specific. If you want to lose weight you cannot eat a high Calorie diet. If you want to gain weight you cannot eat a low Calorie Diet. No matter what your goals are, here are the most important tips for active people to consider about their diet.
You cannot take a once size fits all approach when it comes to nutrition.
It does not matter if you read a diet in a magazine or have an expensive nutritionist for your nutrition program. What works for other people may not work for you. To find what works for you, experimentation is a must. I stress eating for variety. The more variety of food and fluids you consume, the more satisfied you will be with your meals. Consuming a variety of foods, the more vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytochemicals you will get in your diet. Far less negatives such as saturated fats, simple sugars and excess calories will be consumed.
Having proper nutrition will allow you to achieve optimum and more rapid results in any training program. Nutrition cannot be overlooked when optimum athletic performance is considered as well.
Eating Healthy Food and Fluids is More Important than Calorie Counting
Many diets and nutrition programs focus strictly on calories in their program. This is definitely NOT the best way to approach your diet. Consuming the optimal foods will more than likely take care of the calories for you.
Most commonly referred to "clean" foods are better for satisfying your hunger and giving you the nutrients for energy for exercise. "Clean" foods are generally natural, nutrient dense foods without added fats and sugars. The healthier the food is blatantly obvious some times. If you had the choice between macaroni & cheese or plain sweet potato you can plainly see which would be better for your health. Steamed vegetables or fries? This is never really difficult.
Eating 5-6 small Meals and Snacks Takes Care of Food Timing
Have you ever been told not to eat, or not to eat or not to eat carbs after 6pm? This is something that is not good. Eating 5-6 small meals and snacks evenly spread out through the day is optimal. This will not only take care of your pre- and post- exercise meals but will also keep your energy levels stable throughout the day. When your body is constantly breaking down smaller portions, your energy, metabolism and fat burning will speed up.
Be a Cheater!
Sometimes sticking to a diet is very difficult. This is why cheating on your diet once in a while will keep you on track. If you are accustomed to cheating on your diet once a week you will be less likely to binge the next time you see a pizza, cookies or chips sitting in front of you. Cheating simply means eating an "un-clean" high calorie food that is not a normal part of your diet. Save this meal for a social occasion and don't overdo it.
I hope you find my advice useful. I have much more but it would take hundreds of pages. The advice I want you to remember is if it does not work for you, move on to something that may. Einstein once defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Good luck and I hope you are in the best shape of your life soon.

The Critical Importance of Hydration
People today do not understand the critical importance of hydration and how it promotes optimum cell function in every part of their body. Millions of Americans do not understand that all beverages are not created equal. Coffee, tea, soda and alcoholic drinks actually dehydrate your body and rob your cells of the most basic ingredient needed to function.
Even water is not created equal. Tap water can be full of unhealthy pollutants. Many people are unaware that most brands of bottled water test out to be no better than tap water. Water filtered by osmosis systems has life giving nutrients removed. Ionized Alkaline water is more hydrating because the size and shape of the water molecule cluster is reduced in size and is changed in shape to hexagonal. This size and shape allows the water molecules to pass through your tissues more easily.
When you drink alkaline water, you are drinking water with excess oxygen, not in the form of O2, but in the form of OH-, which is very stable because it is mated with positively ionized alkaline minerals. When the essential alkalizing minerals are ionized your body will be able to absorb and use them much more efficiently.
Researchers and drinkers of Ionized water have found that the water promotes balanced body ph, more energy, strong immune system, improved mental clarity, more oxygen to cells, restored cell function, increased fat burning and disease prevention among other things.
People in both Korea and Japan have been drinking this water for over 20 years with amazing results. The medical industry has found ionizing water machines to be so successful for improving health that the machines are approved medical devices in those countries.
Doctors recommend that every person drink 1 liter of water per day per 30 pounds of body weight. In addition to many other benefits, this will removed toxins from your body and set you on a path to health, healing, and wholeness.
